Willmar Noon Lions

The Willmar Noon Lions Club is a club of men and women who are dedicated and determined to serve our community. The Willmar Noon Lions were chartered on September 13, 1940. Our club is one of Lions Club International's, more than 45,000 clubs in 202 countries and geographical areas, making the Lions organization the world's largest major service club.

     "To empower volunteers to serve our community and meet humanitarian needs."

Willmar Noon Lions Club is within District 5M4 which is part of Multiple District 5M
Multiple District 5M includes 673 Lion Clubs in 12 Districts, and is in Minnesota, Manitoba, and Northwest Ontario.

Club Activities & Education

Examples of Willmar Noon Lion Club's Activities:

  • Help provide free exams and eyeglasses for disadvantaged children in the Willmar area.
  • Collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids for worldwide distribution.
  • Provide child eye screening through the Lions KidSight Program.
  • Support of local and statewide education about hearing and vision services, including the Minnesota Eye Bank Donor Program.
  • Help provide diabetes education and testing locally and statewide.
  • Annually provide scholarships to Willmar Public School Students who are serving their community. Sponsor the Willmar Public Schools Athletic Awards Program.
  • Support the Leader Dog Program which offers services to both sight and hearing-impaired people.
  • Provide roadside clean-up twice, annually.
  • Sponsor and Support major fundraisers such as the annual Belgium Waffle Feed & the annual Walk, Run and Wag 5K event. Proceeds of fundraising go to worthy local projects/needs and to Lion sponsored programs.
  • Salvation Army bell ringing.
  • County Fair ticket sales at fair gates.
  • Numerous other activities.

Collecting Used Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids  
The Willmar Noon Lions collects used eyeglasses for donation to Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers.  The used eyeglasses are cleaned, repaired, and classified by prescription. Please help the Willmar Noon Lions collect used eyeglasses for reuse. You may drop off your used glasses at any of these locations in Willmar: Family Eye Care Center, Affiliated Medical Center's Eye Care Center, New to You, Shopko Optical, Vision World, America's Best Hearing, Peterson Funeral Home, Kandiyohi County Historical Society, and the Willmar Community Center.  Hearing aids can be dropped off at the same locations.
